The strongest stocks. The right setup. The right time.
The Ready List is where we identify the strongest stocks that are approaching an actionable setup. We combine fundamental strength, technical conditions, market and industry leadership, and risk management to determine which opportunities deserve attention.
Fundamentals tell us what to buy. Technicals tell us when to buy.
How the Ready List Works
A stock earns a place on the Ready List when it demonstrates the characteristics we are looking for across four areas:
01 — Fundamental Strength
We look for companies with strong financial characteristics, growth potential, and the ability to support a sustained move.
02 — Technical Setup
We wait for constructive price action and a technical setup that confirms the timing is becoming favorable.
03 — Market & Industry Leadership
We consider the overall market environment, industry strength, and whether the stock is showing leadership within its group.
04 — Risk & Trade Plan
Before entering a position, we define the entry, stop, and target. A strong stock is not enough — the trade must have a clear plan.
The Current Ready List
The Ready List is where we track stocks that meet our Ascend criteria and are progressing toward an actionable opportunity. As conditions develop, stocks may move between three stages based on their fundamentals, technical setup, market conditions, and risk/reward profile.
The Three Ready List Stages
WATCH
Strong Ascend stock. Not close to buying yet.
The stock has the fundamental and market characteristics we want, but the technical setup or timing isn't ready. We continue to monitor it as the setup develops.
NEAR ENTRY
Strong Ascend stock. Approaching the defined buy point.
The stock has passed our fundamental and market tests and is developing a constructive technical setup. It is close enough to the buy point to warrant closer attention, but the entry trigger has not occurred.
READY
Strong Ascend stock. The setup is complete and actionable.
The stock has reached the defined buy point and satisfied the technical and market conditions required by the Ascend process. A trade plan is established, including a stop, target, and Position Guidance: Half Position or Full Position.
The key distinction
Watch means we like the stock. Near Entry means we're getting close. Ready means the conditions to act have been met.
Sample Ready List: Historical Example
MRVL- From Watch to Trade
This historical example shows how MRVL progressed through the Ascend process—from WATCH to NEAR ENTRY to READY—and how the trade was subsequently managed. This is a historical example and not a current recommendation.
WATCH-March 10
MRVL entered the Ascend WATCH list as a strong candidate with a developing setup. The fundamental and technical characteristics were becoming increasingly attractive, but the stock had not yet reached an actionable entry point.
What we were waiting for: Confirmation that the technical setup would continue to develop and move toward a defined buy point.
NEAR ENTRY — March 27
By March 27, MRVL had continued to develop constructively and was moving closer to the level where an entry would become actionable. The setup was strengthening, but the buy trigger had not yet occurred.
Status: Approaching the defined buy point. The stock was receiving closer attention, but patience was still required.
READY — March 31
By March 31, MRVL had completed the setup we were waiting for and met the conditions to become actionable. A defined trade plan was now in place.
Buy Point: $96.50
Stop: $86.50
Target: $125.00
Position Guidance: Full Position
The following day, April 1, MRVL triggered the entry and was purchased at $97.75.
TRADE MANAGEMENT & OUTCOME
MRVL was purchased on April 1 at $97.75, shortly after the setup became actionable. The position was managed as the stock advanced.
April 24 — Trimmed Half: $159.21 | +62.9%
June 2 — Final Exit: $287.20 | +193.8%
Overall Trade Result: +128.3%
The MRVL example demonstrates the complete Ascend process: identifying a strong candidate, waiting for the setup to develop, defining a clear trade plan, acting when the conditions are met, and managing the position as the trade progresses.
